Greetings from Townsville

Greetings from Townsville (Queensland) to my family and friends. Seems like I need to update you guys on what I have been up to in the past 2 weeks. Well as most of you already know I have moved from Perth to Townsville to further my carrear.

My employer, BHP Billiton has organized my transfer to Townsville…They have arranged to transfer all my personal belongings (fridge, bed, TV, desk, books, kitchen utensils, car) has all been transferred via Grace Removals. They have also paid for my car rental and accommodation at the Quest Hotel.

Actually Im only staying at this Hotel until December 10…by that time I should have found a new unit/house to stay in. I live on the 9th floor...there is a small kitchen, double bed, laundry, bathroom, and Pay –TV. And the views from my apartment is simply wonderful.

Townsville is a small city with a population of 220,000. The weather is tropical and humid… the choice of clothing is shorts, singlet and sandals. The Great Barrier Reef to the east in the Pacific Ocean....and there is a massive Granite hill (see photo above) that dominates center of the city. Yesterday i drove up to Castle Hill where i took these photos of Townsville Harbour, City and and its Suburbs.

As I said I work for BHP Billiton… I fly to the process plant site (near Mt Isa) every Monday morning and fly back to Townsville on Thursday evening for my long weekend. I get a 3 day long weekend because my working hours are 6am to 6pm. A bus takes us workers to and from the process plant site to our camp accommodation…all our food is cooked and prepared for. Any way I will write more about my the position I have at BHP Billiton and my working life later on another post. But for now its greetings and goodbye from Townsville.

Farewell to Aflame

Im not a big fan of farewell parties…especially if the farewell is for myself. But I could not say No to Andrew and the rest of the YACG.

Monday night I had my farewell dinner at City Garden Chinese restaurant with the YACG. We had a great time of fellowship last night…and plenty of laughs. Thanks guys
Image hosted by TinyPic.com
Well it would be an understatement to say that im going to miss my fellow brothers and sisters at Aflame Community Church.
Image hosted by TinyPic.com

Each and every one of you have blessed me with friendship that I will never forget. Only our God knows when I will return back to Perth.

However I will visit Perth every year for holidays…most probably during next years 2006 Church Camp. But as sure as the sun rises from the east…and as sure as Jesus is our savior…I will return to my spiritual home at Aflame Community Church.

God bless each and every one of you.

Spring Time Gardening

Today was the last day I could spend time gardening. I trimmed the trees and bushes and cut the edges of the lawn in the front and back yard. It was a beautiful day to be out…not to hot…not too cold…with just a couple wisp of clouds floating in the sky. Spring time is certainly wonderful.

And you know it is spring when the flowers are in bloom and the birds are nesting in your lemon tree. Here are a few worthwhile photos I took after gardening.

Gods creations are certainly beautiful.

Well there is only 2 days to go before I leave Perth for good.

Im certainly going to miss my lovely home.

Philippians 4:5-7

This verse from the Holy Bible speaks to me and sums up the thoughts that have pre-occupied my mind for the last 2 months.

Philippians 4:5-7
Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

I have been praying for 2 jobs that i had applied for…and the Lord has listened and answered my prayers….Thank you Jesus Christ.

I have been offered a job with the BHP Billiton (Queensland) and another job with the Water Corporation (Geraldton, WA).

Choosing which job to accept has been a difficult decision. There were financial, professional and personal factors that I had to contemplate. But after many prayers and advice from my family, friends and loved one...the decision is clear....

South West Holiday

Last Monday I went with 12 friends to for a 4day holiday to South West Region. We headed off from Kenneth’s house in 3 cars: Hans’s black BMW 4WD (code name: Black Bean), Andreas green Mazda (code name: Green Bean) and Kenneth’s blue Honda (code name: Blue Bean). The reason for the silly name is because each car had a walkie talkie. Thus the cars can communicate travel instructions whilst driving. The Walkie talkie also served as light entertainment as we told stories during the long and boring drive to the next town.
Image hosted by TinyPic.com
Image hosted by TinyPic.com
On our way to the town of Margaret River we got lost on the Caves Road on our way to our accommodation… Caves Road Chalets
We rented 3 Chalets for the night. Each chalet (small house) had 3 beds, toilet, shower, TV, Kitchen and Fire place. Once we unpacked we headed off to visit the local Chocolate Factory and Margaret Rivers famous wineries.

For Dinner we had a BBQ (steak, sausages and marinated chicken). For the nights entertainment we played Twister. This a very challenging game and because of the intimate contact of entangled limbs the first games were played as guys only (or girls only) per game. However as the night wore on and the local fine wines started to take affect we all started to get in on the game. However the alcohol did have negative effects as Kenneth slightly burned his finger tips on the fireplace.
Image hosted by TinyPic.com
Day two saw me wake up at 6:30am to go for my first bush walk. Directly behind the chalets was forested area where I went for a bush hike. Armed with my camera, I took photos of the sunrise across the tree tops and a herd of deer.
Image hosted by TinyPic.com
After checking out of our chalets...we headed off to Cape Leeuwin. As usual we took plenty of photos at every vantage point with a good view. And these were no ordinary group photos, there were jumping photos, kissing the sun photos, hiding photos (a specialty of Ado), funny face photos, sneaky posterior photos (another specialty of Ado’s).

We stopped over at Pemberton for Grocery shopping. The team from each car would cook one dish for our dinner that night…3 cars = 3 teams= 3 course dinner.

It was getting very late as we made our way to the small town of Denmark. We finally arrived at our accommodation The Cove. We were all impressed at our accommodation a 12 person house entirely made of wood….old style colonial architecture with a fully furnished kitchen, 2 bathrooms. Our house was completely surrounded by jarrah forrest and half a kilometer from the placid harbour. After eating our delicious home cooked meal we all unanimously decided to stay an extra night in this beautiful house and its wonderful nature surroundings.
Image hosted by TinyPic.com

Day 3 saw us head our 3 car convey to the Valley of the Giants (near Capel). The Tree Top Walk was well worth the trip because the views were awesome. The cable supported bridge structure was a impressive feet of engineering in the midst of an ancient forest.

Image hosted by TinyPic.com
Next we headed off to Albany. After much trouble looking for a Chinese restaurant we finally settled to eat at Hungry Jacks. Next stop was the famous Natural Bridge along the coast. There was at first some hesitation in crossing the Natural Bridge, but soon every one of us had crossed it. The views of Southern Ocean were magnificent and the angry waves crashing against the rocks was scary yet exciting enough for me.
Image hosted by TinyPic.com Image hosted by TinyPic.com
Final stop of our trip to Albany was to visit the Wind Farm. This renewable source of energy provided 75% of all electricity in Albany (15,000 homes). Each propeller was about 30m in length and rotated at an average speed of 120kms/hr.
Image hosted by TinyPic.com
In the evening we arrived back in Denmark and to our accommodation at the Cove. Before leaving, I insisted we try rowing the boat along the harbour to a small island. Ado and Andreas accompanied me….we all had a turn at rowing but it soon became apparent that I would be providing most of our propulsion. Ado seated at the front providing directions…My self facing backwards as normal when rowing a boat…and Andreas in the back providing the balance.

Image hosted by TinyPic.com
I must admit rowing a boat at sunset in a harbour surrounded by the forest was romantic…and so romantic that I even started to sing the Dean Martin song “That’s Amore” …unfortunately the audience of my serenade was not a beautiful lady….but instead Andreas and Ado hahahaha. Never mind I thought…I made a promise to my self that I will be back here in a couple of years ….rowing this boat whilst looking in the eyes of my one and true Love.

After eating our dinner….we finally got around to the job of downloading our digital photos and compiling all the photos from the several cameras. We woke up at 4:30am in the morning to start our long trip back to Perth. Four days, three nights, countless photos and 13 friends…What a great holiday.

Farewell to my Friend in Pink

Well I have known Olivia for about 4 years…she is leaving Perth for good to go back to Indonesia. Yesterday was a our farewell to our girl in pink...everyone dressed up in pink clothes (including the guys)...as a tribute to the Pink Lady who touched all our lives
Image hosted by TinyPic.com
I wrote a little poem for this good friend of mine. It was a bit rushed and the rhymes are a bit forced…but I believe it sums up how this wonderful lady has affected my life

Farewell to my Friend in Pink

What do I say when a friend she goes
Never mind, let me write it down in prose

How do I write a poem,
What can ever rhyme with Olivia Joso ?
Well she is the Pink Fashion Virtuoso !

We had our problems in the past.
But Im thankful that did not last.

My true friend in every sense of the word.
Rumors of anything other than would be absurd.

Your like the little sister I never had.
Helping you out when ever your car was bad.

But you are also my spiritual elder chi.
Inspiring the Love for God in me.

Although you may soon be afar
I’ll never forget your hints and advice on BGR

I wish and pray you fulfill your hearts desire
Love and follow our Lord without tire.

God has blessed you abundantly.
There is more in your life you will see
And knowing you has blessed me.

Retail Therapy

Last Thursday was a sad day for my family…but that’s a private matter…suffice it to say “life goes on”

Any way Me and my brother went out today to Garden City. Harold was looking for a gift for his special friend who is having a birthday on the weekend. We meet up with the other YACG guys at dome cafe and the girls helped my brother look for at Swarovski crystals at Myers.

As usual the shopping girls left the guys waiting around whilst they tried clothes out. Isn’t amazing how the simple act of shopping invigorates the female species…providing them with walking stamina that is not normally evident in other everyday activities…They certainly shopped till we dropped.
Image hosted by TinyPic.com
My friends certainly pointed something that I was not a aware of…that my brother and I look the same and speak/sound the same. I never really noticed this because I always thought that I looked like our mother and that Harold looked like our father. It must have been our Mums fault for dressing us up the same when we were young hahahaha
Image hosted by TinyPic.comImage hosted by TinyPic.comImage hosted by TinyPic.com
After wards we went to the Malaysian Restaurant Ipoh. We had a great time that night. There's nothing like Retail Therapy

Hanging out with the Worship Team

Well its been some time since I did any thing with the Worship Team…im usually so involved with the YACG’s. The worship team do a fantastic job week in , week out… leading the Praise and Worship music at our church.

This Sunday I had the opportunity to have lunch with Worship team…we went to Chatters. I had lunch with Chris (vocals and cheerleader), Ado(Saxophone and drums… not all at the same time), Intan (vocals, keyboard and Enforcer…all at the same time), and Micheal (guitar and Mr Cool).

After lunch I sat down and listened to them practice for the Anniversary. It was interesting to witness the song selection process. Once the practice concluded…Andrew Joso (vocals and gadgets technology guy) drove us to Gelato to have ice-cream.

It was last year was the last time I had visited Gelato …also with the then Worship Team (see photo below).
Image hosted by TinyPic.com
Reminder to myself never again to grow a beard hahahahaha

Last nights Gelato conusors were Andrew, Chris, Intan, Ado and myself.
Image hosted by TinyPic.com
While we sat down and ate our delciously overpriced ice-cream ...we also interrogated each other about our current BGR status. I think Chris brought up the BGR topic (not surprising)…however it was Chris who had the longest interrogation time hahahaha.
Please visit http://izz30.blogspot.com/ for updates and give support to our brother currently in the clutches of "LOVE"

Basic Car Maintenance

Well its that time of the year again when the RAC is very busy attending to car breakdowns. Winter is always the season when a lot of people have flat car batteries and punctured wheels. Flat car batteries because the driver leaves the light on when the engine is turned off. Punctured wheels because road visibility is poor and the driver does not see that sharp object on the road.

3 weeks ago a friend called me because her car battery was flat…so I drove to her and “jump started” her car battery. This week I got called to help change a punctured tyre.

I of course am happy to be a “Good Samaritan” and help out any body in an emergency. It does however surprise me that most women I know do not know the basics of car maintenance…and surprisingly some men I know are the same.

Whether it be monthly checks on oil and radiator coolant levels or ensuring that car tyres are inflated at the correct pressure….all drivers should know the basics of car maintenance.

As they say “Prevention is better than cure” …in other words a 5 minute check of your car every month is better than suffering a breaking down in the middle of the freeway in the cold rain. Plus the added cost of calling the RAC to tow your vehicle to the nearest service garage where you could spend hundreds of dollars to fix something that could have been easily prevented.

In the case of an car emergency …where no amount of maintenance can prevent a flat battery, punctured tyres or smoke emerging from the hood. Always consult the car manual…this book should always be in the car… then following the steps of changing tyres or jumpstarting is very easy.

Alternatively you can ask me to show you the basics of car maintenance…I will be more than happy to show any one who ask.

And if you want to know more then go to

This website is very good and goes into more detail.
Safe driving everyone.

www.blogupload.com

Thanks to Ricka...i finally have music playing on this blog.
Go to www.blogupload.com and register for 10000KB of free storage. Unfortunately it only supports music in the WMA and WAV format.
If you want your MP3 uploaded, then you have to pay for the upgraded account.
It takes about 30seconds for the featured song to start playing...thats if you have ADSL or broadband.
If your using dialup...then don't bother waiting because it will probably take hours.
Currently the featured song playing is "Beautiful In My Eyes" by Joshua Kadison. Divert your attention to the scrolling text on the right hand side.
Expect a new song every week playing on this blog's Love Song Dedications
Enjoy

Building 204

This past couple of weeks have been hectic for me. In fact I haven’t been this busy since my final year at University in 2003. And im reminded every week how crazy those uni times were…when ever I talk to the current engineering undergraduates Okky, Rudy and Daniel…when I helped out Ivanna proof read her assignment…when I explain to Celi how to use Power Point presentation…when Im encouraging Ricka to study. What all these people are going through I could relate to because 2 years ago I was like them. And so Im reminded of those uni days.

And of course im also reminded when I catch up with my own Chemical Engineering graduate class of 2003.

Suprisingly some of my best friends who graduated with me are still in Curtin Uni. Ling and Ferry are doing PhD’s whilst also tutoring…Nina is doing her Masters on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
Image hosted by TinyPic.com
Today I had the opportunity to return to Curtin Uni….to help Nina on CFD…after all I did do a year long project on CFD. As I drove nearer to the Engineering Building…I felt a bit of Nostalgia.

Engineering Building 204 other wise known as our 2nd home….where we would spend on average 16 hours a day in…even on the weekends we lived in Building 204…forcing ourselves to sit infront of a computer to finish the endless amount of assignments and projects.
Image hosted by TinyPic.com
Just walking into that building for the first time in 2 years…all the memories came flooding back to me…memories that were either bitter and sweet…nothing inbetween.

The bitter memories included the sleepless nights we endured…the mad race to get a computer after classes…the endless wait to get ur project printed before the due date.

Image hosted by TinyPic.com

But the sweetest memories far outweigh the bad ones. The commradery that developed as we encouraged each other on to keep working…the mischief we got into when we could not take the stress any more….the endless amount of Games and interesting files on the Transfer drive.

And it was at night time when all the uni lecturers and all computer admin staff had all gone home…it was at night when the real fun and games would happen in building 204. All those midnite food and snacks we consumed (pizza, chicken rice, KFC)…the throwing the ball games in the computer labs...the mp3 music that we would force each other to listen too...the photographing of friends asleep in front of the computer.
Image hosted by TinyPic.com
Sneaking into the “staff only” photocopying room to make free duplicate copies of entire text books. Using the “staff only” kitchen to microwave our dinners. We did a lot of naughty things and broke a lot of uni rules during the many nights in 204….and it was all enjoyably fun.

I guess all the fun and mischief we got into was a form of stress relief whilst we struggled to finish our work.

When every one is stressed over impending due dates and mounting workloads…the friendships that you develop are tested when you spend 16hrs of the day together. Group projects would always test the strength of friendships…there were tears, arguments, cold treatments between friends….but in the end we saw through it all… and we survived it all without killing each other.

Thank you my friends Ling, Ferry, Raymond, Nina, Cindy, Jeffery, Belinda and Irwan…our common faith in Him…and the fellowship we had shared….this all made our stay in Building 204 one of the most memorable moments in my life.

Bowling and Bad Restaurants

Last night was my first ever experience at ten-pin bowling…yes that’s true.. before yesterday I had never picked up a bowling ball and I never knocked over a pin. I learnt a lot last night. Firstly it’s a foul to cross the bowling line…second I had to use the heaviest bowl available (size 14) because my fingers would get stuck in the lighter bowls with smaller holes…thirdly the floor on the bowling lane is very slippery. Jonathan explained to me the complex scoring system for ten-pin bowling…unfortunately he injured his wrist in the middle of the game and retired hurt.

Marissa, Bryan, Andrew, Jonathan, Harry, Livia, Marini and her cousin Christina booked 2 lanes side by side and on our second game we had a little competition. Im a quick learner in any sport and soon I was getting strikes. But Andrew proved to be victorious with 180 points(3strikes)…whilst Harry and I tied for the silver medal with both of us scoring 123 points each.

The girls wanted to eat Thia Restaurant…and after driving around Northbridge…we finally settled on the Lemongrass Thai restaurant on Francis St. At first the décor and atmosphere of this place was excellent…and Harry could not help but admire the cute waitresses. We got chatting…and Marini’s cousin proved to be highly entertaining. Time certainly did fly and soon we noticed it was 9:30pm…It had been an hour since we ordered our dinner and still nothing emerged from the kitchen. At this stage we were getting impatient and hungry…then Reynard, Stephen and Eunika arrived at the restaurant from their Youth CG ready to be driven back home.

It was only when we threatened to leave that 10mins latter they brought us our meal. However my meal was not what I ordered…I asked the waitress for only a small amount of chilly (I can’t eat very hot food) but instead my meal had large dosings of chilly slices and chilly seeds. It was hot enough to make me perspire. And the fried rice that Christine ordered was uncooked and the rice still tough. This was indeed the worst restaurant I had ever patronised…not only did we have to wait more than an hour for our food…the food portion was small for $15 and the meal it self was awful.

So here is a bit of advertising …don’t go to the Lemongrass thai restaurant. Hmmm im starting to sound like a food critic…maybe I should be a presenter on channel 7 new show “My Restaurant Sux” hahahahah

We finally finished at about 10:30pm…I drove Stephen an Eunika home…these kids were already sleepy but most of all they very hungry. So I did a U-turn on Canning Hwy and we went to McDonald’s….I remarked that the $3 burger that they were eating was cheaper, faster and a lot more tastier than what I had at the restaurant.

Evangelising and Weight Watching

These two topics have nothing in common except that they were the main talking points of last Saturday’s caregroup. The venue was Ricka’s house…attendees were Myself, Harry, Chris, Shung, Ivanna, Marini, Baby, Intan, Olivia, Jonathon, Ricka and Ricka’s friend Sam. Special guest appearance by Belinda Tanoko.
Image hosted by TinyPic.com
We listen to spiritually motivating tape on Evangelism (by Christine Caine). The tape systematically highlighted the need to save the lost. The much renowned “Four Fold” ministry of the church is to : Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship and Evangelism. The first three we can practice now and forever in heaven…but the later…Evangelism…we can only accomplish during our short time here on Earth.

At times we fall short of our expectations…and I personally feel that I am ill equip to take on the responsibility of evangelism by myself. The personal views concerning Evangelism were also shared by the other members in the care group…and it was good to hear and share their views on this subject…a subject that has been occupying my mind ever since I was saved.

Forgive me if I seem to be evasive and not forth coming on the matter of MY evangelism…it is because this is a personal matter and as yet I am still uncertain of where I stand. That is not to say that I don’t advocate Evangelism…it is that I feel that I still require support in my evangelism…but I am willing and able to provide any help and assistance to my brothers and sisters who are fully into evangelism.

On the lighter note…We had a highly entertaining discussion on the matter of weight watching. Since I don’t have permission of the individual who is currently battling to lose weight…that person will only be known as “X”. However X did encourage us (the care group) to give advice on how to loose weight…as usual the common sense approach of eating healthy and exercise was aired and humorously dismissed.

Instead the unorthodox approach of becoming stressed and not eating…or finding a bf/gf and wishing to get dump to lose weight (now that is a bizarre idea) was provided. My suggestion of drinking only cold water was dismissed…not sure why …maybe because it is boring to drink only water...although I don’t understand the need to drink anything else (Im not a big fan of Coke, Bubble Tea, Milkshakes or any sugary beverage). From my understanding the scientific theory of drinking icy cold water to reduce fat is because the body will consume calories (a derivative of Fat) to get the water up to core body temperature (37 degC). So the theory goes that u will in fact be burning fat by simply drinking icy cold water…without the need to lift a singly lazy muscle to exercise.

The body image of X also proved to be a humorous talking point. Just recently X has been more self conscience of his/her body image. There is only so much a person can take in terms of pressure from family, friends and the media. I can’t sympathize how X is feeling …because I have never been fat (I eat very healthy and exercise/play sport regularly). The only advise I can give is X needs more “self control and Discipline”. Self Control to watch what u eat (eat only lean meat without the fat, smaller meal portions, eat more vegetables and fruit, drink/eat less sugary foods). And Discipline to Exercise Exercise Exercise (less reliance on the car for transport…more on walking/cycling, take up a sport etc.)

But most of all can I advise X to love herself and body image… just the way God had created her….unique and special. Here are some cliques that you may have already heard before but I personally believe in …”Beauty is only skin deep” the superficial outside appearance is not as important as what’s inside the character of a person ….”you are what u eat” if u eat fat, then u are fat… “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” each of us is beautiful to ourselves

Lastly I would like to farewell my old friend Belinda Tanoko…she came back to Perth for a 6 day visit. As most of you already know….Belinda was a class mate and very good friend of mine during University and also at our church. She is now the deputy CEO of her family company…producing, manufacturing and selling bottled water in Indonesia. It was quite a surprise when she told me that her company purifies water using Reverse Osmosis (RO). Now the company that I work for (OSMOFLO) specialises on the manufacture, service and operation of RO plants around Australia.

Since Belinda is a good friend of mine…I of course did not charge her OSMOFLO’s normal $60 per hour rate for consultation. Hehehehe. Belinda I hope I have helped u in some way with your understanding your RO plant… I am proud of you Bel in what ur doing in ur career….see ya later when u next holiday in Perth.

Chem Eng Reunion 2

My old friend Belinda came back for a visit to Perth this week. We had a last minute reunion of Chemical Engineering graduates of 2003. In fact it was so last minute that Nina and I organised the reunion just last night…it was so last minute that Chris Mac only found out 2 hours before the scheduled reunion lunch at Hoi’s Kitchen.

The Chem Eng guys pictured below are Myself, Chris Mac, Belinda, Nina, Dianna and the Gumulya twins (Cindy and Monica).

Melisa, Harrianto, Bel’s Mum and Robert were with us as we ate dim sum for brunch (breakfast and lunch).

After lunch we went to shopping at Galleria (Morley). Nina, Belinda and Bel’s Mum went there way to all boutique ladies shops (Sports girl, Dusk etc) …while I went with Robert to play Arcade Games. We played the usual racing , motor bike games as well as the shooting games…but it was the Dancing Game (see previous post) that got us hooked. Robert was quite good at this Dancing game consistently beating me with high score combination moves.

Robert and I spent $30 in about an hour of fun and games before we went back to look for the shopping ladies. While shopping for groceries at Coles, Belinda armed with her Camera did some research for her bottled water company…taking pictures of all the fancy water bottles being sold there.

After that we went to Koorong...i bought a new bible...Belinda and Nina got some books by Max Lucado and the Perpose Driven Life books.

Intan's 21st Birthday

Yesterday was Intan’s birthday. It was a double celebration because the following day is her brother’s Irsan birthday.

Image hosted by TinyPic.comImage hosted by TinyPic.com
Over 40 people from our church crammed into Intan’s house. Harry, Vicram, Renaldy, Andrew and myself contributed in buying her some beauty products and a teddy bear. Although the best present (judged by the cheers and laughs) was the aqua blue coloured bra that Shieeny got for her. See Photo below

After Pastor Jimmy gave a prayer and the cake was cut, we had a had a game… now this can best be described as a cross mix of chinese whispers and charades (see photo above). After that we had a delicious buffet dinner in the backyard.

For entertainment, Pastor Jimmy encouraged us to play another game…girls verses guys in a Karaoke love songs contest. Actually I think Pastor Jimmy, Pastor Evelin and Intan’s parents had more fun serenading each other with romantic songs from the 70’s. Then the young couples of our church also got into the act…and before u know it even the single guys were pressured into singing love songs. Flowers were being given…photos were being snapped…giggles and romantic sighs filled the air.

Songs such as Only You (The Platters), Can’t Help Falling in Love (Elvis) and Can't take my eyes off you (Frankie Vallie) were some of the most memorable out of over a dozen love songs sung that night. We had a great fun and if any body is interested i have got almost all the songs sung that nite (from an unashamed fan of oldies songs). Thanks to Jonathan, Shung2 and Harrianto for providing a guitar background for each song.

We finally finished at 10pm…most of us had school and work on the Monday morning…the birthday girl herself had to start work at 4am. So ended a wonderful birthday party. Happy 21st Birthday Intan.

Farewell to Roy Bro

Yesterday was the final day Roy Chandra would be in Perth. We had a farewell for him at the Bridge Restaurant last night. Almost the entire church congregation was there to send him to say there final goodbyes before he leaves for Singapore with his family.

We were meant to surprise him on the night...however I was unfairly accused of spoiling the surprise when I took a photo of him as he turned the corner. But to my defence I must plead that as I was the unofficial photographer…I had to capture the moment before he realised the surprise. Never the less Roy had already suspected a surprise farewell dinner for him had been arranged.

During the dinner…most of as gave testimonies about how Roy Bro made an impact on our lives. Most of the testimonies were a credit to Roy...some not so flattering testimonies from the ladies who I think wanted to slap him goodbye….heheheheheh. Well at least the slap may have been a slap of kindness…hehehehehe. I guess Roy has influenced us in the church in lots of ways. Whether it be his marvellous singing ….or his counselling /mentoring….or his many attempts of matchmaking couples.

I never really gave a long thought to how Roy has influenced me when I gave my testimonial last night…So I will now rectify that in the following paragraphs below

Personally Roy has always been a wonderful person to talk to. I have said this before…but Roy Bro is one of only a few people I can click with. There are not too many people in my life who I can share a intellectual whilst humorous conversation with. His ideas and thoughts are always an enjoyable insight into a passionate man.

A passion that we always talked about was finding the right partner in life. You see it is one of our common goals in life is to find Miss Right…We both share similar experiences and suffered the pain of unrequited love. Yet we both encourage each other…knowing full well that God has a perfect plan for both of us.

We also share a love for oldies music. Songs from the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s. Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Bee Gees, Righteous Brothers, Ray Charles, The Platters. I guess our taste in music is an indicator of our age physically and mentally and hey.

As Andrew Joso mentioned last night …Roy showed us that it was ok for guys to hug in public…because hugging it was not a unmanly gesture of brotherly love…but more of an affirmation on how unashamedly secure we were about our masculinity.

Roy you have inspired so many people during your stay here in Perth. Your enthusiasm on stage every Sunday was electrifying and contagious. Full of energy, a soulful voice yet humble off and on the stage. Glory be to our Lord in Heaven who has blessed you with the voice and charisma to praise his Holy name.

We are definitely going to miss you Roy Bro…come back soon to visit us here in Perth.

My future in Success.

No this is not a statement of an “expected of victory”…it is infact my future residence. With the help of my family I have narrowed it down to one out of two blocks of land that I will buy in the suburb of Success.

There comes a time in everyones life when u start thinking about the future. The time u start preparing for the future… when u finally leave the family home to start a family of ur own. That time of has come for me.

The fact that i am still single…and as yet no lady has really caught my eye…But this has not stop me for preparing for my future.

When the time is right. When ever I am blessed to realize that a special some one has captured my heart. When love is reciprocated. When u spend enough time together and u know that this person is the one u want to live ur entire life with. When through the sanctity of marriage and a holy matrimony...two people become one. And when the miracle of new life is born between us….it is then I will be ready....

...ready to provide a home for my family.

I guess I am a old fashioned type of guy...but the above sequence of events is how I see my immediate future.

Any way im going off track on what this post is really about. It is about the land I will buy in the suburb of Success. The land is on Wentworth Parade…Over looking a park and literally across the road (Wentworth Parade Rd) from a kids playground…how ideal is that!!!

The only real downside is that the huge powerlines that dominate the viewing horizon…however after contemplating the relative distance of the powerlines from my new home…I did conclude that the electro-magnetic radiation emitted from the power lines is has negligible health effects.

The good points of the land I choose is that it is not that far from the Gateways shopping complex. And most of all It is close to the Kwinana freeway and the future train link.

The blocks of land themselves are fairly small…but large enough to accomidate a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2 carport garage house. For more information refer to blocks 363 and 366 on

http://www.landstore.com.au/system/cgi-bin/public/pustgvie.pl?EstateId=14&StageId=568&ContainerStageId=0

Harry Chan…my real estate buddy…you should check this web site out

I was late in choosing which blocks of land…and thus about 90% of the available land was already sold. However the 2 that I have put a “hold on” is within my budget whilst both blocks of land are still aesthetically pleasing.

All this is of course is all financially possible because my parents have given me an interest free loan as an addition to the savings I have accumulated in my brief working life. An interest free loan means I will pay back my parents in the next couple of years…instead of getting a bank loan that incurs about $7000 per year from the bank interest rate.

I have no problems borrowing money from my parents…but I would never accept large gifts money from them. I want to be able to prvide for my self without relling on them too much. I guess that’s just me…I will only buy something if I can afford it at that time or if I am certain that I can pay for it later on.

Ever since my first job at the age of 18 I have worked for all my belongings…my first and only car (small red Suzuki 4WD) was paid for after 3 years working part time at the Australian Wool Testing Authority whilst going to Edith Cowan University.

Which brings me to another point of wisdom that I want to share to the younger generation. Don’t be ashamed if ur first car is old and 2nd hand. Don’t make the same mistake as me when I bought my red Suzuki brand new at a cost of $19,000. Relatively cheap for a new car…but new cars are not good investments. The resale value of new cars will always drop about 10% every year. It is better to start off with a humble but dependable old car. And save ur money in investing in housing and land…they will always appreciate in value over the years.

Which again brings me back to the real topic of this post…The land I will buy in the suburb of Success. But as ur attention span has probably already waned from reading such a long post…I shall thus bid u adieu (“goodbye” in German) until next time I post again….and next time I shall try not to get off track and will I will endeavour to keep to one topic per post.

Love Song Dedications…Now playing

Well after many attempts…I finally got a mp3 song to automatically play when ever this blogspot is opened. Thanks to Josephine and Geri for helping me out.

The current song u r listening is one of my all time favourites…Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers. This song was made in the 60’s and still is one of my favorites. This song became famous when it was used as the Theme song to the movie “GHOST” staring Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze, Whoopi Goldberg. All u fans of romantic movie goers should know this movie

Now if u still can’t hear the song whilst ur reading this…then check ur speakers if their on….mute off…volume up. If this fails and u still can’t hear then u may be using a slow internet connection ie: normal phone line. In which case it may take up to 15mins for the song to fully load up…providing u don’t close this blogspot.

If on the other hand u have ADSL or Broadband internet connection then it should only take a 2-4 minutes for the song to upload for ur musical hearing pleasure.

If u too want this audio feature for ur blogspot then copy the following URL and paste it in the middle of ur Template.

If u want a different song other than Unchained melody to be playing…(then again why would u..cause it’s a great song)….then u have to do a google.com search for the song u want and type in “mp3 upload” along with the song title.

Happy Listening

Somewhere out there…

beneath the pale moonlight

Someone's thinking of me…

and loving me tonight

Somewhere out there…

someone's saying a prayer

That we'll find one another…

in that big somewhere out there

And even though I know…

how very far apart we are

It helps to think…

we might be wishing on the same bright star

And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby

It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky

Somewhere out there…

if love can see us through

Then we'll be together…

somewhere out there

Out where dreams come true

And even though I know how very far apart we are

It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star

And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby

It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky

Somewhere out there if love can see us through

Then we'll be together somewhere out there

Out where dreams come true
